Homework is necessary for practicing and reinforcing skills that have been learned. Occasionally, homework may also be class work that was not finished. I understand that schedules fill up quickly with extra curricular activities; however, any work assigned will serve the purpose of helping your student to practice. Plus, teaching your child the responsibilities of completing his/her own work will help to set them up for success in later grades.
With that being said, your child will have a homework folder that will be assigned on Mondays (or the first day of the week) and will be DUE ON THURSDAYS (unless otherwise noted in the folder). The folder will contain ALL homework assignments for the week as well as a suggested schedule to follow. You and your child may complete assignments in any order and as much or little per evening; however, please note that EVERYTHING in the folder will be due on Thursday. These folders are designed as a flexible tool to help accommodate your busy evenings. In respect for your family time, your child will not have homework on the weekends or holidays (unless otherwise noted in the folder) but I would strongly suggest you continue to read with your student every day!!
Folders may be turned in at any point during the week but must be complete. Please do not send assignments in as students finish. Keeping everything in the folder will help your student and myself to stay organized. Homework pages turned in without the folder will have a high likelihood of getting lost!
